Bushido Bushido: Temple of Ro-Kan: Senshi $14.66 $15.43

Very few kitsune master the requisite discipline and aptitude to become a Queen’s guard. Only the very best among already exemplary warriors can fulfil this role. Their stone-faced stoicism and sheer wrath in battle make them some of the empire’s most fearsome combatants. They believe in death before disrepute and will gladly lay down their lives supporting their Queen and everything she stands for. Senshi is the epitome of this. Fearsome, loyal, lightning-quick on the battlefield with an annoying habit of being precisely where he needs to be while the enemy prays hard he will appear elsewhere. Kitsune and Temple of Ro-Kan players always like to see the Vitality Ki Feat giving extra activations when needed. Senshi’s array of Traits - including Adept and showing combat results other models cannot achieve - make him good on his own. Mina was born in a small fishing village on the coast below the Rokan mountains, where she loved to swim and play in the sea. She swam gracefully, even managing to use the force of the waves to propel her toward the beach at great speed, and by doing this, she could perform incredible stunts and crowd-pleasing acrobatics. The locals called her a 'water dancer.' Her life was one of sand, sea, and surf; she felt balar-,ced and harmonious and sought to learn more about these feelings and her place in the universe. That is why she went to the Temple ofRo-Kan, to learn more about the wonders of the world and the force that binds it all together. She has been given instruction and teaching, and because of her affinity with the ocean, she can summon sea water to aid in her and others' defence. Her powers are inextricably linked with the tides' pull and the moon's stages.Mina is on the lower rice cost side for monks but boasts a good profile nonetheless. Her feat is Active, so she can be moved in other models' activations, meaning she can help with Melee Assist Penalties, even blocking Lines of Sight or potential movement of an enemy model. Once she has done this, she can still move to clear the way before the end of activation.

Just as the judges can only deliver two verdicts, innocent or guilty, Hōfuku dispenses two forms of justice. He represents retribution against the guilty and restitution towards the innocent. While his Armour, Feint, Parry and the powerful Adept Trait allow Hōfuku to work alone, he is undoubtedly best when paired with Kuoto. She can dispense Control Markers, which enable the Restitution Ki Feat, and also uses Death Sentence Markers, thus making Hōfuku a top-tier melee combatant with his Vengeance Trait. The Execution side of his weapon is a tremendous finishing weapon; once you wound an opponent, it should be able to get maximum damage for your Success Level and finally kill those intractable foes. Still, the Shiho’s fighting men have been together since the usurpation, and the loyalty they show each other is matched only by their commitment to the fallen Eagle Clan. Kyudo, the art of archery, has long been the pastime of the Samurai and those that perfect it become known as Kyudoka. It is extremely rare and frowned upon for anyone other than Samurai to take up a bow for whatever reason. However, the Shiho, with little access to black powder, have made the bow a formidable part of their arsenal. Shiho Shota, a master of Kyudo, has been training loyal Shiho Ashigaru to use this weapon to devastating effect. They can fire several volleys and disappear into the underbrush before an enemy force can even sound a call-to-arms. Shiho Hiroto, never one for rules or archaic tradition was ecstatic to learn that he had some of the finest archers in Jwar who were not Samurai but loyal Ashigaru instead. Shiho Hiroto is a champion of the people and not the power that forces them into submission. They may only be Ashigaru, but they have a pool of three ranged and access to the Lightweight trait, making them some of the best missile troops in Bushido. For 14 Rice, they have outstanding Range - and Strength - and can keep their distance to stay safe. With the Eagle Feather Arrow as a choice, it gives them that chance to let loose that one vital shot that must do damage at all costs. The Moon Lions are well known for their stealth and their savagery, and it is because they share these traits with the members of the Bleeding Moon that they have incorporated these animals into their ever-broadening arsenal. These creatures live in the immediate surrounds of the Bleeding Moon's hidden stronghold, where they are known to eat the unwary, unwanted, and uninitiated. Occasionally the Bleeding Moon finds a cub that can be trained and taken with them. Sadly the Moon Lions are notorious for reverting to their instincts after only a handful of missions together before fleeing back into the wild. However, Neko proves to be different and has become one of the Bleeding Moon, showing no signs of wanting to return to his natural habitat, quite the contrary, he seems more at home within their ranks than most initiates!In your games, Neko is an ambush predator; when he can strike from cover, it always surprises the enemy. He also gains Banzai! which allows him to do this more than once as a charge. He has all the stealth and elusiveness of the ninja he fights alongside, and his Vengeance [Death Sentence] means he gains even more benefit if you put a Marker on the desired target.

Abandoned by accident when the monks of the Temple of Rokan banished the last Savage Wave, one Oni-sho was left without guidance on what it means to be an actual being, let alone an Oni. He wandered the world aimlessly, looking for acceptance until he was captured and taken against his will to the Empire. Once there, he was displayed as an oddity and a warning; he was shackled, bound, and dragged from baying crowd to baying crowd surviving only what they threw at him. He was sold eventually to an unscrupulous warlord who forced him to fight in the notorious Jade Pits of the Tzentch Falls, where he met Shiho Hiroto. Eldest brother has always thought of this meeting as the hand of fate at work and not pure happenstance. Shiho Hiroto recalls it like this, “I met him on my travels. I was living by my sword carving out a reputation for myself as a Ronin. I would journey from one place to the next, to fight, kill, to do what I had to do before moving on. Then one winter I was up near the Tzentch Falls, in the Jade Pits, doing a bit of fighting for the crowds when they brought him out. He was a lot smaller then, almost like their version of a child, and I felt sorry for him. They’d beaten him senseless and tortured him near death. They almost destroyed him. So I broke his chains, slew anyone that got in our way then robbed the counting-house on the way out. We’ve been together ever since.” Eldest Brother can deploy with Hiroto, using Flank. Flank gets him to the action unscathed, but how good is he when he gets there? With three melee dice and Brutal, he seems to be on par with other Oni and Oni-sho but his Kata trait (From a time when he joined the Temple, a story told elsewhere) makes him highly reliable in combat. He can also be used as a Savage Wave faction model due to the duality of his nature that constantly fights for control of who he is. Between Regenerate and Consume Soul, it’s easy to keep him topped up on wound boxes so that he’ll keep swinging that club.

Life in the peaks of the Iron Mountains is harsh and unforgiving. It is a place of snow, ice, and blizzards, not one of second chances or mercy for the weak. There are but a handful of beings or beasts that can live in such an ungodly place and thrive. One such creature is Yuyokuma, a bear of prodigious size and strength with a shared soul affinity with the Minimoto clan, who worship bears as their ancestors did. Like many Minimoto models, Yuyokuma asks your opponent just one thing: can you deal with this? The big bear automatically knocks down his melee opponents, has superb melee statistics and traits and is tough to kill in return. Mamushi’s ophidian snake form is unique in Jwar in that he gives a warning rattle from his tail before he strikes, and his colours are unlike anything seen before. The Ito considers this a great omen demonstrating that Orochi’s power has extended beyond the Empire, incorporating far-away forms. They always believed Orochi’s power was vast and her reach long, and this new type of warrior now proves what their faith has long sustained. Ito Mamushi is blessed, a favourite of both the Temple and the Shisai and is accorded the requisite formalities. Traditionally the Ito sneer at using the Yari as a weapon, but Mamushi’s lethality and skill with it are deadly enough that he remains unchallenged in that regard. Mamushi offers Ito players a new Samurai, especially welcome in The Blessed theme. The ability to automatically apply Frightened Markers gives easy access to a new debuff and his 4 Melee and Feint (1) makes him a great combatant. Bushido Bushido: Ito Clan: Azami $14.66 $15.43

A curse to some and a blessing to others! Azami, it seems, is blessed with the dread countenance of Orochi. When she turns to face her foes, scores are fixed in terror, unable to defend or even think of an attack! She fights with an entangling chain rather than a noble weapon, using the weighted ends to crack skulls and bones. The spiralling motion of her chain captures her foes as if they were ensnared in the coils of the snake. Azami is a great model to send against the enemies finest warriors as she negates their parry. Even the bravest Samurai may fail a test against her Fear (6) with the Terror trait. This allows her to reliably grapple enemies, inflicting severe penalties in melee while a second model comes to finish the enemy off. She also has Lightfooted and Jump Up, ensuring she can always get to her target. Azami is an ideal addition to the Ito Starter Box and fits the Serpents Coil theme as a combat model.
