The island of Izu is one of the less habitable places in the whole of the Jwar Isles, bestowed upon the Ito as a slight by the Eagle clan to make it clear to all, including their subordinate clan, who rules. A broken landscape with little arable land for farming, brimming with danger and hazard from the hostile terrain or its inhabitants, beasts unique to the island fill its dense jungles. Beautiful as they are exotic, with colourings to make the royal gardens seem dull in comparison. Amongst the many reptiles lurking in the shadows of the canopy the Shimogama vipers are some of the largest and deadliest. Five foot of muscle, harnessed by great feathery wings enables the snake’s great power and movement, striking without warning and disappearing just as fast. The Ito Shugenja have been testing the limits of their clan’s connection to Orochi. Where the Shisai are granted power from the Kami, Shugenja take power and abuse their bond. As soon as the first followers became Hebimiman, the Shugenja tried to do the same. But where Orochi’s gifts are seamlessly blended into the supplicant to make a perfect predator, the Shugenja experiments often produce malformed piteous creatures they call Abominations. The Daimyo may have halted these blasphemous rites were it not for the animosity it creates within the clan, thus ensuring his power and position. As the battle goes on, Yankī’s abilities get better and better, but he will burn out early and cannot survive the battle. In battle Yatsumata moves with frightening speed and direction as if guided by an unseen hand. In combat each head can deliver a muscle wasting venom through foot long fangs as hard as iron, downing even the toughest warriors as they are reduced to a whimpering mess. Two heads leave the unholy beast with few natural blind spots, adding to its already strong survivability and resilience gifted by its speed and thick scales. Fire is every sailor's worst nightmare. Anything that could be a fire hazard is kept as far away from the Jung’s fleet as possible. Crew are not permitted to light any kind of fire on board, even the smallest flame, the only exception being that of the ship’s cook. Fire can also be the greatest weapon at sea, a single flame can destroy an entire ship. Few captains use flame weapons due to the danger to their own ship. Kurutta is crazy and most captains, even Hibiki, will not permit his home-made devices on their ship. But sometimes needs are great and Kurutta is brought to wreak havoc among enemy ships and crew alike as he throws bombs with maniacal fervour. Kurutta’s damage potential is unmatched, but keeping him around to use it is key to making the most of this model in game.
