Bushido Bushido: Temple of Ro-Kan: Taiki &... $12.40 $13.06

When he was younger, Taiki was a light-fingered miscreant with a heart of gold and a taste for anything cooling on the kitchen window. Pies, rice cakes, and sweet treats were his pilferage of choice that he would then dutifully dole out to all the other wayward children too. He grew up hard in a myriad of villages nestled in the Ro-Kan Mountains. Taiki was never selected to join the Temple of Ro-Kan, but his eyes never left the monks when they trained, and between what he watched and practised and tousling with the other village children, he adapted a fighting style all of his own. Niseru, his now stalwart companion, also had a spurious approach to what was his and what belonged to other people. His penchant ran to fermented apples that would get him tipsy, as well as being able to open a sake bottle or a beer keg. But when they teamed up? They became a tsunami of almost unstoppable thievery. Were it not for the way they defend the village and the villagers from attack and unwanted aggression, this mischievous pair would have fallen foul of the local militia long ago. But the two are inseparable, and the villagers have grown fond of them, even learning to turn a blind eye when a meal or a drink magically disappear. Taiki’s Ape Ki Feat requires a friendly Monk model for Taiki to watch and copy as best he can. This allows you to break the activation order, take TWO activations in a row, and give Taiki additional melee options. Taiki also brings Event-Trap cards to Temple’s Monk themes for the first time. When paired with Niseru, Simian Trickery allows for a wide range of tactical plays that keep your opponent guessing where these models will attack by spreading out then using the feat to outnumber the enemy suddenly. Niseru is more of an annoyance than a combatant, but the negation of Surprise can be a real boon, especially with the recent release of the Shiho. Changing Special Attacks from 0 cost to 1 is a real worry for specific lists; those Takashi now have to pay for Critical Attack! This venerable monk is a seasoned defender of the Temple. Though his sight left him at a young age his senses and awareness of his surrounding remain sharp as a fox. Like most monks of his age there is little left in this world that can cause fear in this wandering warrior of the Temple. In battle Tsutsumi carries with him the ancient Guqin, carved from an ancient wood and passed down from monk to monk since the first rays of sunlight rose over the mountains of Ro-Kan. When his lithe fingers strum its strings as he has done for many decades, using the sweet sound and combining it with his deep voice to create powerful prayers, Shomyos. He uses these to inspire his allies, or suppress and distract his enemies. Tsutsumi can also use the Guqin to channel a powerful wave of sound, knocking hapless enemies to the ground. Some of The Children of the Fallen God have recently returned to the world above. A handful has forsaken their subterranean kingdom for life under the suns blinding light. The man they call Ekashiba is one of these brave souls. For centuries they have remained hidden, driven underground by the first of the Savage Waves against this world. They had chosen an open domed cave far beneath the lofty and terrifying heights of Takawa’s Talon as their place of worship. Here, the bodies of expelled tengu from the world above would arrive explosively, bathing the initiates in blood, bone and the holy feathers of their sky-bound gods that they worship from afar. The elders take these twisted remains and fashion talismans, clothes, and even weapons of war for the rest of the tribe. Ekashiba is one of these tentative explorers. He carries a Tengu Bone pick, far superior to most of what the tribe wield. He also has a sacred talisman that he prays gives him some of the tengu’s innate nature. Clad in the remains of his fallen gods, Ekashiba yearns to seek a path to the top of the Talon not just to worship the tengu from afar but serve them loyally as a follower. In your Descension Warband, Ekashiba offers a new, gruesome way to gain more Virtue Tokens. His Spirit and Courage Traits make him more reliable against enemy Fear and Opposed Ki tests. Like most Tribesmen, he is a decent Melee Fighter. His usefulness will only grow as we discover more models from the Children of the Fallen Gods and their synergies become apparent.
